Cox Family: Hospital Stay

Tuesday Morning Seth and I were in our hotel room in Vegas getting ready to go get some breakfast when we got a call. The call no parent wants to get! Hudson had another one of his "episodes" as we call them. My brother had called 911 and they had taken him to the hospital. Hudson had the first episode March 1st of this year when he was just 3 months old. He suddenly turns this weird gray color and looks really sleepy then his lips turn a light blue color and he loses all his muscle strength and just seems to go to sleep and he is really cold with his temperature dropping to 92 degrees. The first time we also called 911 and he was taken to the hospital an they did blood work and a chest x-ray and everything was normal. The doctors all said it was a fluke thing and it would never happen again! Well Tuesday morning it happened again at my parents house and again his temperature dropped, this time to 94 degrees and he turned all the funny colors. They again took him to the hospital and since this was the second time this happened the doctors agreed Hudson needed to have a lot of tests. Our pediatrician wanted him taken to Banner Childrens Hospital at Banner Desert. Mind you Seth and I are in Vegas when all this is happening and had to make the long drive home. It was the longest 6 hours of our lives!!! When we got to the hospital Hudson was his usual self as if nothing ever happened? We saw a pediatrician, neurologist, and an endocrinologist. When we told them the story they all immediatly think siezure until you tell hem how low his temperature drops nd then they get this baffled look on their faces. Over the next 3 days Hudson had blood taken more times than I can count. He had to have a permanat iv in his arm so they could take blood when ever but many times it came out to slow so he got poked in both feet and his other hand. He had an mri done and they had to put him under so he would not move. He had to have an eeg twice because the first one did not turn out that good. At night Seth would stay with us until around midnight then he would go home because there was not enough room in our room for both of us to sleep. He wuld then come back around 7 am. Hudson and I would attempt to sleep but at night he had to be hooked up to heart monitor and pulse oxygen machine. Also his nurse would come check on him every hour so needless to say neither of us got much sleep, maybe 2 hours total. early Thursday morning at 3 am they came in and took him to get more blood drawn. Then at 6 am they came back because the sample they took the blood had clotted too much so they had to do it again!! My parents brought Preston everyday and he did very good. He and Hudson spent most of the day playing in the play area. Also lots of family came to visit so the days went by pretty quick. Last night we finally got to talk to the neurologist again and he had reviewed all Hudson's results and everything was perfect!! Not one thing wrong with him!! There are a couple blood tests that are special and had to be sent to different parts of the country that are not back yet. He said there is a syndrome tha is similar to what Hudson does where the person goes into a random hypothermic state but they have a malformation of the brain, which Hudson does not. In his 30 years of practice he said he has never seen some one become hypothermic for no reason who did not have brain damage, which again Hudson does not! So basically no one can tell us why our baby does this? He is a very special case and who knows maybe he will have a syndrome named after him some day? At least we know if he ever does it again we do not have to call 911. We were told to wrap him up in a blanket and take him to our pediatrician so they can give him a look over. Since he comes out of the episode by himself there is nothingt he hospital can do anymore. Thank you to everyone for your support and prayers! They were for sure answered!!
